Terms of service

1. Who we are

These Terms of Sale are an agreement between you and The 8647 Coalition, an Oregon nonprofit corporation ("the Coalition," "we," "us"). They cover every purchase made through our store, including hats, add-ons, apparel, and anything else in The 8647 Collection.

Customer service: the8647coalition@gmail.com. We answer within two business days.

2. Accepting these terms

By placing an order, you agree to these Terms of Sale and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't place an order.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to place an order. Our products carry strong language and political messages.

3. Products and pre-orders

  • Project 001 is a pre-order. Hats are made after the pre-order period and ship by January 20, 2027.
  • Limited run. Project 001 is limited to 8,647 numbered hats. It will not be restocked or reissued.
  • Random numbers. Main-run hat numbers are assigned at random. You can't choose a number, and we can't swap one.
  • Handmade variation. Embroidery, thread color, and placement vary slightly from hat to hat and from photos. Colors on screen may differ from the real thing.
  • Add-ons (stickers, pins, keychains, cart tokens, bandannas, magnets, extra pocket Constitutions) ordered with hats ship with the hats.
  • Apparel (tees, crewnecks) is printed on demand by a third-party printer and ships separately, usually within two weeks. Sizes follow the printer's size chart on each product page.
  • Every hat includes a pocket Constitution.

4. Prices, taxes, and payment

  • All prices are in U.S. dollars.
  • We charge the full amount, including shipping, when you place your order, including pre-orders.
  • Sales tax is added at checkout where the law requires it. International orders may owe import duties and taxes on delivery; those are the buyer's responsibility.
  • We accept major credit and debit cards and the other payment methods shown at checkout. Where offered, cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, USDC, or SOL) is accepted only through our payment processor, at the U.S. dollar price shown.
  • Payments are handled by our payment processors. We never see or store your full card number.
  • If an item is listed at the wrong price because of an error, we may cancel the order and refund you in full before it ships.

5. The funding goal

Project 001 is made only if at least 2,000 hats are sold by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on November 26, 2026 ("the funding goal").

  • If we reach the funding goal, all orders are final, except as described in Refunds below.
  • If we miss the funding goal, we cancel every Project 001 pre-order and refund the full amount paid for the hats, their shipping, and any add-ons that were set to ship with them, to your original payment method, within 14 days of the deadline. Print-on-demand apparel that has already shipped is yours to keep and is not refunded.
  • Founding Seats are covered by the Founding 47 Seat Agreement, not this section.

6. Shipping and delivery

  • In the U.S.: $4.86 for orders under $47.86, $9.86 for a single hat, and free on orders of $86.47 or more, including any pair or pair plus one.
  • Outside the U.S.: $21.86 for orders with a hat, $4.86 for add-ons on their own.
  • Apparel ships free.
  • Delivery dates are estimates. Once your order ships, you'll get a tracking number by email.
  • If we can't ship by the date we promised, we'll tell you before that date, give you a new estimate, and let you cancel for a full refund of anything not yet shipped. If the delay runs long, we'll ask again. This is your right under federal law, and nothing in these terms takes it away.
  • Please double-check your address. If a package is returned because the address was wrong, we'll reship it once you pay the new postage.
  • We're responsible for your order until the carrier delivers it to the address you gave us.

7. Refunds, returns, and cancellations

All sales are final. We don't accept returns or exchanges, and we don't refund orders because of a change of mind, a gift that didn't land, or how a vote turned out.

We will refund or make it right only in these cases:

  • Funding goal missed: a full refund, as described in The funding goal.
  • Never arrived: if tracking shows no delivery, or a package is lost in transit, we'll replace it or, if we can't, refund it. Tell us within 30 days of the estimated delivery date.
  • Damaged, defective, or misprinted: send a photo within 30 days of delivery and we'll replace the item, or refund it if we can't.
  • Wrong item or wrong apparel size shipped: we'll send the right one at no cost.
  • Billing errors: duplicate, incorrect, or unauthorized charges are corrected and refunded.
  • We cancel your order: because of a pricing error, suspected fraud, or because we can't fulfill it, you get a full refund.
  • Shipping delays: as described in Shipping and delivery.
  • Anything else the law requires.

Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 10 business days. Cryptocurrency payments are refunded in the U.S. dollar amount you paid, sent as USDC or another method we agree on. Your bank may take a few more days to post it.

8. Chargebacks and payment disputes

If something is wrong with your order, please email the8647coalition@gmail.com before contacting your bank. Most problems are fixed within a few days.

If you file a chargeback, we may share your order, shipping, and tracking records with our payment processor and your bank to respond. If an order is charged back after delivery, we may cancel open orders on the account and decline future ones.

9. The 33% and the sponsor vote

  • 33% of the price of every hat sold (not shipping, tax, or add-ons) is set aside in a separate account for the sponsor vote. The donation is made by the Coalition; your purchase is not a donation by you.
  • Each hat sold carries one vote. Voting is ranked-choice, runs from January 20 to February 2, 2027, and ballots are emailed to the purchaser. Results and the check go public February 3, 2027.
  • Every organization on the slate is vetted. We can't guarantee that any particular organization will be on the slate or will win.
  • Auction hats No. 0086, No. 4786, and No. 8647 are sold by the winning organization, which keeps 100% of the proceeds. Auction money never passes through our accounts.

10. Not tax-deductible

The 8647 Coalition is an American nonprofit. Federal tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code is pending. Contributions or gifts to The 8647 Coalition are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes, and purchases are not deductible.

11. Founding Seats

Founding Seats are sold under the Founding 47 Seat Agreement, which each Founder signs. If that agreement and these terms disagree about a Seat, the agreement controls.

12. Your name on the Wall

Names appear on the Wall only if you opt in at checkout, and you can ask us to remove yours at any time. We may decline or remove any name that impersonates someone, includes a slur or threat, or breaks the law.

13. Our designs and words

Our designs, artwork, slogans, product names, and the content of this site belong to The 8647 Coalition. Buying a product gives you the product, not the right to copy, reproduce, or resell the designs.

14. Privacy

We collect what we need to fill and ship your order and run the sponsor vote: your name, email, shipping address, and order details. Card details go directly to our payment processor. We use your email for your order, your ballot, and updates you can unsubscribe from at any time. We never sell your information. Our full Privacy Policy is linked at the bottom of every page.

15. Content notice

Many of our products carry strong language and political messages. You're responsible for where you wear and display them, including at work, at school, and under local rules.

16. Warranties and limits of liability

Except for the commitments in these terms, our products are sold as they are, and we disclaim implied warranties to the extent the law allows.

To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order, and we aren't responsible for indirect or consequential losses. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

17. Things outside our control

We aren't responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as carrier or supplier failures, natural disasters, or government action. If one affects your order, we'll tell you, and your rights under Shipping and delivery still apply.

18. Governing law and disputes

Oregon law governs these terms. If we have a disagreement, please contact us first, and we'll try to resolve it within 30 days. If we can't, either of us may bring the claim in small claims court, or in the state or federal courts located in Oregon.

19. Changes and the rest

We may update these terms. The version posted when you place an order applies to that order. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These terms, our Privacy Policy, and, for Founders, the Founding 47 Seat Agreement are the entire agreement about your purchase.
