This is a fight between autocracy and democracy.
How this works
If we sell 2,000 hats by Thanksgiving, November 26, the run is funded and every hat ships by January 20, 2027. Two years in. Wear it on the anniversary. If we miss, every dollar comes back to you.
33 percent of every hat sold goes to one organization: $15.79 on a single, $28.54 on a pair. We haven't picked it. You will. Three auction hats, No. 0086, No. 4786, and No. 8647, go to the same organization, 100 percent.
On January 20, 2027, every sponsor gets a ballot. One vote per hat. Rank a vetted slate. On February 3 we publish the results and cut the check in public.
What 8647 means
1. To refuse to serve (a customer); to eject or ban. 2. Broadly, to eject, dismiss, or remove (someone). 3. To reject, discontinue, or get rid of (something). American soda-counter and bar slang from the 1930s, probably rhyming slang for nix, "to veto or reject." First used as a verb in the 1950s, originally for cutting off a drunk. Merriam-Webster
It's what the bartender does when you've had enough. Cut off. Out the door. Not welcome back.
The 47th President of the United States, inaugurated January 20, 2025. The second person to hold the office in two non-consecutive terms, after Grover Cleveland (22nd and 24th). The first to take the oath as a convicted felon, on 34 counts. Impeached twice, acquitted twice. See The Record.
Him. The guy on the hat.
From office. By vote, by law, by the Constitution. That's what the word means, and that's what we mean.
For the record: in April 2026 the Justice Department indicted a former FBI director over an "86 47" post, relying on a "kill" sense of the word that Merriam-Webster says is too recent and too rare to enter in the dictionary. We use the one that's been in the dictionary since 1942. FactCheck.org
The full glossary: treason, fascism, oligarchy, kakistocracyInside every hat: a number nobody else has.
A woven label sewn inside the front, right behind the brim. "8647 · FUCK TRUMP" is woven tone-on-tone across it, so you see it up close and nobody else does. Main-run numbers are drawn at random, so any hat could be the one.
The Founding 47 get gold labels and keep their number on every drop. The three auction hats get red ones.
You buy.
You decide.
On January 20, 2027, two years to the day after the inauguration, every sponsor gets a ballot by email. One vote per hat. You rank a slate of organizations we've vetted for one thing: they fight the slide into oligarchy and authoritarianism, and they'll take the money. Each Founding 47 holder can nominate one organization to the slate, and every nominee is vetted the same way. Votes are counted ranked-choice, so the winner has a true majority, and that organization gets the donation and every auction dollar.
The slate is announced January 20. Voting runs 14 days. On February 3 the results, the total, and a photo of the giant check all go up on the Vote page.
Three hats, No. 0086, No. 4786, and No. 8647, go to the winning organization to auction. 100 percent of the hammer price is theirs. We don't touch it.
About
Take back the red hat. Keep the record straight. Fund the people defending American democracy.
We're not a brand. We're people who got tired of one red hat owning the whole color. We're here to bring some respect back to wearing one.
The 8647 Coalition puts money and visibility behind the opposition to the oligarchic mess running this country. We make things that say what most people already think, hand a third of every sale plus every auction dollar to organizations doing the actual work, and let our sponsors pick which ones.
We're a nonprofit. Every dollar that isn't donated outright makes the hats, ships them, keeps The Record running, and funds the next project. Our founder draws a salary set by the board, not by himself, and it's public: nonprofits file a Form 990 every year, and we'll post ours right here. Nobody gets rich off a red hat.
Anti-MAGA. Anti-fascist. Pro-truth. That's the whole platform.
FAQ
33 percent of every hat sold sits in a separate account until the vote closes on February 2. Then it goes to the winner, in one check, photographed and posted here. The three auction hats are sold by that organization directly, 100 percent to them.
Because the rest keeps The 8647 Coalition itself running: the hats, The Record, and the next project. A third of every sale plus every auction dollar goes straight to another organization doing the work. We publish all of it, including our own books.
Because it's your money and your call. Also because a lot of these organizations can't put their name next to a hat that says what ours says, and we'd rather give them the money than the headache.
If you have to ask, ask a friend. Or scroll up.
Same reason. And the single is $47.86: same numbers, other way around.
No. Every hat in the main run gets a random number from 0048 to 8646, so anyone could pull a 1776 or a 4700. The Founding 47 keep 0001 to 0047, and 0086, 4786, and 8647 are made separately for the auction.

Every dollar refunded to the card you paid with, no questions. We'd rather not make 2,000 hats than make them badly.
If we fund by Thanksgiving, hats ship by January 20, 2027, two years to the day after the inauguration. Tracking the day it leaves.
Forty-seven Founding Seats at $8,647 each. A Seat claims one number from 0001 to 0047 for every drop we ever make, a Founders package of hats, apparel, and extras, two hats and a pair of surprise gifts with every future drop, and the right to nominate one organization to every sponsor-vote slate. Seats can be resold, and are paid by card or crypto. See the Founding 47.
Nothing in the U.S. on a pair or more (orders of $86.47 and up). A single hat ships for $9.86 in the U.S., any order with a hat ships for $21.86 internationally, and add-ons on their own ship for $4.86. Why so much? Thank Trump: his tariffs and his war drove up the cost of shipping everything. Add a third hat to a pair and it rides along free too.
Yes. Every order comes with a printable card showing your two hat numbers, so there's something to open on the day. The hats ship by January 20.
